You would expect to find this awesome structure, somewhere less obscure than in the small town of Paarl. Die Afrikaanse Taal Monument serves as a fantastic background for pictures. No matter what time of the day there is always an interesting shadow falling, and this was the intention of its designer Jan Van Wijk. The light is always spectacular in the morning as its high up on the hill and nothing much obscures it once it pops over the Worcester Mountains. No matter how many shoots are done here it always seems to reinvent itself.

We received a call. Some of the mutterings of the conversation were as follows

“We need a Production house urgently”

“HBO are sponsoring Africa’s next top Model, its coming to Cape Town”

“Tyra Banks arrives on Wednesday, and we need to do an exotic photoshoot”

“Airplane tickets, Cars, Photographers, Yachts, Auditions, needed chop chop!”

It was all happening, the guy on the other end of the line claimed to be Tom Kelly?

“Great whats your email Tom? We will get back to you before the end of the day with some costings!”

The basic scam is that he gets as far as the auditions and poor unsuspecting aspiring young girls have to pay an upfront R 400 Audition fee. After the audition “Tom Kelly” does a ninja bomb and is never seen again.

The next day I am driving to breakfast and I get a text from Tom.

T: Can you please call me?

He obviously needs to give me Tyra’s flight details as she lands on Wednesday? WHATEVER!

Bigsky Productions produced the PUMA instore campaign which featured the famous South African brother duo of Albie and Morne Morkel. On the back of an away Test series victory in Australia the South African cricket team are currently high profile, and the added flavour of the brother bat and bowl combination will definitely bode well for Puma Marketing.

It was not all serious shooting as we decided that Morne needed a new look if he was to intimidate the Australian batsmen who were next scheduled to tour South Africa. So our Make Up artist Daleen (http://www.monopole.co.za/) styled him up with a classic “business in the front and party at the back”. The shoot was a great success and we look forward to working with the head of Marketing Alexander Hulley and Puma once again.
